Sherwin-Williams 2027 Color of the Year
It's here! Each year, Sherwin-Williams introduces a Color of the Year that inspires new ideas in the world of design. For 2027, the spotlight is on "Celery" (SW 6421), a fresh, nature-inspired green that brings a sense of warmth and character to the home. Celery is a soft, muted green with warm undertones of yellow. It will brighten up any space, while feeling elegant and connected with nature.

The color of the year is selected by Sherwin-Williams’ Color Marketing Manager, Ashley Banbury. “We’re seeing green emerge across multiple industries – in both fashion and interiors, which is often a strong signal of a broader cultural shift,” she continues. “When a color begins to appear across categories, its story is worth paying attention to, and it allows us to anticipate how people will embrace a trend in different aspects of their lives.”

We decided to play around with a couple flatlay looks in the studio based off of Celery. Here’s one we came up with! In this design, we decided to play with complimentary colors by bringing in the blue to accent the yellow undertones of Celery. The addition of the warm, rust-colored accents creates a fresh, but slighting Medditerranean feel.

Sherwin-Williams also interviewed interior designers to get their opinions on the 2027 Color of the Year. Chicago-based interior designer Abigail Morris of Abigail Morris Interiors was immediately drawn to Celery. She describes the color as:
“It feels fresh yet grounded, bright yet approachable, energizing yet organic.”

This second design plays heavily into the earthy feel of Celery. We wanted to explore using this color in a more masculine representation without losing its unique, energetic feeling. This palette uses more neutral tones, like gray and terracotta, and natural textures, like wood and stone, playing up the nature aspect of Celery.
We’re excited to see this color used throughout next year and will be on the lookout for all of the creative applications it's used in. Check out our Amazon storefront to shop for home inspiration based on this “Celery” inspired flatlay! Click here to shop.
